As a longtime fan and avid supporter of the girls, I can easily say this is one of the best releases to ever come out of Loona-related projects.
As the centerpiece of a cinematic, breathtaking MV, Icarus shines as an orchestral track that simultaneously combines elegant femininity and strength. When the girls sing “I just want to be unchained”, I FEEL that. Ethereal vocals over a symphonic backing lead us to the chanting outro of “reborn like a phoenix wing”, and it feels anthemic- like a war cry. The Artms girls may have gone through so much, but they rise again.
The B-sides are fitting accompaniments to the title track (and the MV’s themes of idolatry, rebellion, and sanctuary), from the dreamy, challenging Goddess to the sparkly, upbeat Verified Beauty.
