    • A revelation

I saw this group perform this live and it was a revelation, and this disc does the performance justice. No where else will you hear The Four Seasons played with such dynamics and understanding. THis brings the piece to life in a way that we have never heard it before. It becomes clear that this was the Rock Music of its time. The person who lamented that it was too fast does not get it at all. This is heart-racing stuff and, one learns from this performance, was meant to be….

Yes, the violin is well played, the orchestra has done a bang-up job. The balance between the two is quite nice-even the harpsichord can be heard and is done well. The biggest drawback for me is the tempo. Was there a race to get through The Seasons? It is played so fast, it's hard to hear how good the violinist is. The additional pieces are done well, with a very nice baroque feel. (and the violin performance is more easily heard.)

this definitely ranking among the top interpretations of the 4 seasons. its merit comes from it being played on baroque period instruments with a baroque orchestra. the best

This is the only Vivaldi to own. The best performance, the best orchestra in classical music.
