    • Tunes improved yet once more

The Shakers mostly took the common tunes of their day (1700s & 1800s) and adapted them to their own use, invariably purifying and improving them. Phillips and Coulter have taken the improved tunes and improved them yet again with wonderful musicianship. Nice job.
    • An excellent follow-up to its nearly perfect predecesor

Tree of Life doesn't have the poetry and over-arching emotion of Simple Gifts (by the same duo) -- the cuts stand more on their own instead of being part of a greater whole. Still a great pleasure and a wonderful soundtrack for time slowed to a gentle pace.
