My first chance to hear Monder and it is absolutely a work of art. "Double sun" and "rooms of light" are worth the purchase by themselves. Can't wait to get more of Ben's work! Must Buy!

why do jazzers always complain that their music isnt in the top 40? its like saying why do cheerleaders date jocks instead of chess players... . . . . ..
This is really amazing!!!

This is my first chance to hear Ben Monder's work--I had heard about him for a long time but hadn't had the pleasure of hearing the actual music. I got a gift certificate from my wonderful wife for my b-day and stumbled across this album and it is fantastic! Amazing music that needs not only to be heard, but to be absorbed! If you like Kurt Rosenwinkel and a lot of the cats with that "Smalls" Jazz vibe of creative exploration, then this may be the thing for you. It is very deep stuff--very exciting to hear such fresh and original sounds, odd time breaks and dissonant chord voicings. It is like a cross of Kurt R., Wayne Krantz, Steve Tibbetts, Drew Gress all rolled up into one strange yet beautiful sound! I hope you enjoy this as much as I do!
A True Artist

Ben is a gifted musician who knows how he wants to sound. He's got a clear vision, and flawless execution of his conception. I only wish that this kind of artistry was celebrated in the commercial sense as opposed to songs about My Humps.
