As a drummer it's pretty much a no-brainer to purchase any album with Eric Harland on it. Even if you're not a drummer though, this album is so worth it. You can tell this group has been playing together for a while. They leave space for each other at the right times, provide immense support, and overall just seem to be in sync creatively. This is a very different album from their previous live one, but it retains that same frantic yet composed energy that drew me to them initially. I'll be listening to this album on repeat for a LONG time.

I'm still getting deeper into this musical journey, ripe with personal insights. I want to comment before I lose my first impressions.
Fluid, dreamy, cohesive, imaginative, sensually subtle and extremely musical.
The key to this ocean of music can be found in Maiden Voyage. If you get that, you get it all.

An expansive, diverse work of art

Eric Harland shows his flexibility, song-writing, virtuosity and vision in this diverse album that shouldn’t logically exhibit any cohesion, but in fact does just that. Session this album. It is a departure from his last “Live By Night” Voyager release, but what fun is an artist who doesn’t grow, evolve, test new waters and push oneself? Eric is doing all that and more on Vipassana.
Outstanding work… Must have!!!

ViPassana is an act of spontaneous love. Much like an impromptu shoulder rub from a passionate Lover.
Anchored in effortless musical form; brought to life by experience and wisdom. The album clearly crosses the Great Divide and offers an invitation to extend beyond our own limiting expectations.
Exploration is definitely the theme with Voyager's "ViPassana”.
How do I know?... I am there.
