This album is awesome, I love it. If you play guitar, you have to have. Just one question, how can I get the album liner notes if I just buy the digital album.... there is no digital booklet... I am curious if Kurt wrote all the arrangements or if there was an arranger...

The last 3 min of zhivago including the sax sectional is like a musical orgasm... however the arrangement borders on killing the beauty and simplicity of the head... aside from that..the album is ok.. you decide if you want to spend your ten bucks
    • A unique voice

Having followed guitarists in every genre for the past 30 years, I find Kurt's voice on the guitar is a breath of fresh air; a unique voice shining throuigh a choir of similar voices. His tone, voicing, phasing and compositions are setting him above the fray. Certainly music is a personal thing and recommendations are more of an expression of an individual than a real gauge that will impact whether someone else likes it or not. However, this project with OJM, as well as his other work are highly recommended. If you find you enjoy this work, than all the better...right?
    • Rosenwinkel is starting to sound like Pat Metheny.

While Kurt may be beginning to sound a bit like our old friend Pat Metheny, his composing and arranging on this CD is crisp and imaginative. It kept me guessing the whole time, and the new take on Zhivago is so satisfying. Once again, well done!
    • Finally I Can Hear That Guitar

I have complained before about Kurts guitar being drowned out by brass...it is very annoying because Kurt has some of the greatest tone out there. Well this album does not hide that voice! The arrangements are spectacular: simple but complex, and the use of the Tuba, as well as other brass; not over, but with, Kurts guitar makes this a definite must own for modern jass fans. Thanks for letting us hear those fingers sing Kurt. This album is a no 1.

There is no question that Kurt Rosenwinkel is an amazing guitarist and an inspriration to the next generation of young Berklee grads. However my love of his talent lies in his compositions. The music on this release speaks to my soul as you hear the songs disected and reconstructed in beautiful and revealing arrangments. Kurt is not buried beneath an avalanche on brass but supported by smoldering timbers. Simple; buy it, love it, support it.
    • Incredible Album

I normally think twice before getting a big band CD, even from my favorite artists. Artists can sometimes get drowned out by the big band playing behind them. Not here. Strong and up-front soloing by Kurt and telepathic support by OJM make this album a winner in my book. It is obvious OJM did their homework in arranging Kurt's music, as well as executing the same in this album. In this case, the iTunes song samples - although always helpful - don't do justice to the 1 + 1 = 4 outcome of this collaboration. I highly recommend this CD.

I was getting tired of hearing the same songs on Kurt's albums, but this album makes Kurt's songs sound completely different, in a really good way. The arrangements are incredible, and Kurt plays his butt off. I think it's his best album since Heartcore.

This album is INCREDIBLE. get it. now. stop thinking about it. just click Buy Album. it's that good. i didn't get it through iTunes, i just received it in the mail today, but i listened to it no less than four times start to finish today, staring at a wall, drooling. This is a whole new direction for Kurts music, and i love it. i really really hope he continues to work with OJM, they have such wonderful chemistry. from the moment that Kurts first solo starts, you know you are going to be hearing things you've never heard electric guitar do with a badass big band. The music ranges from tender and conversational to edgy, dissonant, almost rock music oriented. there is something in here for everyone. get it
